Pattern Play

Mixing and Matching Patterns

Its been a long time since I've posted anything. Applications have been keeping me busy, however, I thought I would share what I've been working on. I thought a little play with patterns would only help me stand out amongst other applicants... Plus it was fun to just be a bit creative.

Outfit #1.

Outfit: Lace shorts (forever 21), Paisley blouse (A&F), lace top underneath (intimo), high heel brown sandals

This summer outfit plays with mixing a "lace" flower pattern with another flower pattern. The contrast between the dark shoes and the dark top pulled together the light white lace. The pink bag pulls in a splash of color bringing out the pink in the dark blue top. The dark leather band watch also ties in the leather and color of the shoes next to the white lace shorts.

Outfit #2.

Outfit: Skirt (Promode), Purse (Italy), Boots, high socks, Lace top underneath (Intimo), Brown leather watch (Fossil)

The play on patterns brings out a bit of a country feeling. The high boots and the slight collar looking top contribute to that style tone. The earth tones and the pink tones are a constant of the outfit, which make it seem less "busy", even with all the patterns. The solid coral purse and solid purple tank top underneath pull out those colors from the skirt and blouse. The watch and leather bracelet also help bring out the rustic style.

Outfit #3.

Outfit: Leather skirt, Blazer, Top (Bershka), Watch (Daniel Wellington)

The contrast of materials between the leather flare skirt to the gold patterned shirt ... The gold black and silver sandal strap shoes ties in the two different patterns of the shirt and the blazer. The flaring of the shirt and the skirt allows for a slim looking waist without the whole outfit needing to be skin tight. A gold glitter statement clutch pulls the gold from the shoes, blazer, and shirt together. This was one of my personal favorites as I felt it was the outfit I would most likely wear.

Outfit #4.

Outfit: Sweater (J-Crew), Pants (Bluenotes), lace undershirt (intimo)

Florals and paisleys, leather and suede. This outfit is the mix matching of patterns to the point which they almost clash. To break up the constant florals and patterns, a dark lace undershirt is used. The red orange sweater ties in with the coral purse and red lipstick to add a solid splash of color. The copper necklace and taupe frilled shoes bring out the brown and earth tones within the patterns. Lastly the accessories of pearl and sparkle bracelets and earrings introduce a glitzy and glamorous contrasting theme.

Lyric of the day #3

The Angel Sent from Heaven

(... as some may say(: )

Its just another night, and I'm staring at the moon,
I saw a shooting star and thought of you.
I sang a lullaby by the waterside and knew,
If you were here, I'd sing to you.

This is Ed Sheeran's newest song "All of the stars", from the movie "The Fault in Our Stars". (Extended Trailer)

More Fashion blog stuffage coming soon! ... Just gathering enough together! (:

Lyric of the Day #2

Say Something by A Great Big World
feat. Christina Aguilera

And I will swallow my pride,
You're the one that I love,
And I'm saying goodbye.

A Fresh Coat of Paint

This is just a little Project I've been working on lately. A little bit a style change. Thats alway important, I find. Since one of my many passions is organizing, redesigning and cleaning out my room was actually a lot of fun... maybe too much. But what can I say.
A lot of thought went into this. Here are some of the before and after pics!

I had two main goals; 1) to create an open closet space and 2) to create a more organized desk space. The rest is because I thought "go hard or go home".. and also, I got a bit carried away.

Wall 1: Desk Wall

There was not nearly enough organization in this area. Too much clutter and not enough space.

After

Wall 2: Bookshelf to Open Closet

Wall 3: Closet to Shelf space

I was honestly sick of this old closet. Its been in our family for much too long, and it was time to move on. Since, as seen in the previous pictures above, I was already going with the "open wardrobe" idea, I tried to bring that into this wall a bit.
Before

After
Wall 4: Bed

There really isn't much to say about this wall, as the bed stayed the same. I did however, decide to paint the wall and add a stronger color pallet to the room.

Basically everything I added to my room I bought from IKEA. A make over does not have to be expensive. You can find beautiful touches, such as pillows or blankets, for cheep, or possibly you already have them, gathering dust in storage.
A more "mini" make-over is a great way to find use for things you still love, by just giving them a new twist.
